My brother, Dr. Michael Briggs, fondly known to us as ‘Big Mike’, has been working on lions in Africa for the past 20 years. After a 13 year stint as veterinarian at Chicago’s Brookfield Zoo, Mike and his partner Beth Ament started APCRO, the African Predator Conservation Research Organization. They are conducting a comprehensive, Pan-African study of lions and other predators from Morocco to South Africa, and are currently focused on Botswana’s predator population.
