As part of its philanthropic mission, EXPLORE has been supporting the Lubasi Home, an orphanage in Livingstone, Zambia, since 2008. Lubasi provides a loving and safe home for around 50 orphaned children until they are old enough to support themselves, or are taken in by their extended family members. EXPLORE’s Road Scholar groups visit the children while they are in Livingstone, and enjoy the opportunity to interact with the children and their caregivers. Recently, EXPLORE partnered with three local musicians to create a band for Lubasi by providing musical instruments and monthly music lessons for the children. The music lessons are scheduled to coincide with visits from the Road Scholar groups, allowing for everyone to learn some traditional Zambian music and let their inner dancers loose!

Cherri Briggs, EXPLORE’s president, said of the donation, “We’ve noticed that many children in Zambia today don’t know how to play traditional Zambian music. We felt this donation would be both beneficial in perpetuating traditional culture and highly enjoyable to the children at Lubasi!” If you’re interested in visiting Lubasi, or would like to know how you can help, please contact elise@exploreinc.com.
